On the occasion of Men’s Day on November 19, 2017, (yes it’s a real thing) let’s start with this amazing poem found online: –
“We squander health
In search of wealth;
We scheme and toil, and save,
Then squander wealth
In search of health;
And all we get is the grave;
We live and boast of what we own;
We die . . . and only get a stone.”
The quests and conquests of men are never to be at the expense of his health. The feverish pace at which the rat race is followed is scary, and this is true for both college going boys and office going men. And in this rat race the last thing one heeds to is one’s health because it is very easy to neglect. The tasks cannot be ignored, the sleep cannot be done without but eating good food in a timely manner and staying physically fit are but easily forsaken.
The persistence and determination from the above quote is what applies perfectly to those who place fitness and health in the back burner. It is only with persistence and determination that you can juggle the hectic lifestyle and still manage time for your personal wellbeing. And do not confuse well-being with just physical fitness and enrolling in a gym. It is just the first step towards emotional welfare and a path that unfolds finding one’s spirituality, which helps you understand who you are and stand up for what is right.
If you do not spend insane amount of time creating wealth and then spending more time as well as the accrued wealth to treat illness brought on upon oneself, you should and must focus on your health starting today, November 19, a day men start considering health to be the biggest blessing.
We at Talwalkars wish all men a Happy Men’s Day and leave you with this message from Buddha:
“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.”
